Metalogix Introduces Software for Microsoft Sharepoint That Saves Money and Improves Admin Productivity

Selective Restore Manager Pro restores individual documents and list items from native SharePoint backups without a temporary recovery farm

SRM Pro is our first new product on a fourth-generation platform

Waltham, MA (PRWEB) June 23, 2009 -- Metalogix Software (http://www.metalogix.com), a Microsoft Exchange™ and Microsoft SharePoint™ productivity company, today introduces Selective Restore Manager Pro™ (SRM Pro), a tool for selectively restoring content from native SQL Server™ backups without SharePoint® recovery farms, proprietary formats, or dedicated hardware. Only SRM Pro offers differential reporting, which allows users to compare content between two backup files, or between a backup file and a live SharePoint site, to see instantly what has been added, modified, or deleted, thus increasing speed and productivity.

SRM Pro lets network managers and SharePoint administrators recover content in only minutes with no capital or operating expenditures. They do not have to deploy temporary SharePoint recovery farms just to recover either a single document or item or an entire site. SRM Pro performs all restores via supported SharePoint APIs--and makes no direct writes to the database.

"SRM Pro is our first new product on a fourth-generation platform," says Chris Risley, Metalogix CEO. "It takes just minutes to install and requires only the dot Net Framework (Version 2.0) and access to an SQL Server instance. SRM Pro uses a familiar, tree-based user interface so you can perform granular restore operations with the copy-and-paste function easily and quickly. Standards-based, easy-to-use, enterprise-class solutions like SRM Pro will help companies cut costs and stay competitive."

SRM Pro connects directly to native SharePoint SQL Server backup files, navigating them as though they were live SharePoint sites. SRM Pro recovers documents, list items, and even entire SharePoint sites directly to the production environment, or to any new SharePoint server. SRM Pro also preserves user information, metadata, versions, views, web parts, and permissions. There are no un-supported (Microsoft Illegal) direct writes to the production SharePoint database. SRM Pro also allows administrators to run a differential report comparing live content to data preserved in a backup and note any changes, ensuring accurate and speedier recoveries.

Supported Source Systems
SRM Pro supports a complete range of source systems:

  • Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2003/2007 SQL Backups
  • Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 2.0/3.0 SQL Backups
