Doris Kearns Goodwin to Address 2009 State Bar of Texas Annual Meeting

Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Doris Kearns Goodwin heads a list of nationally-prominent speakers scheduled to speak at the State Bar of Texas Annual Meeting in Dallas, Texas, on June 25 and 26, 2009, at the Hilton Anatole. Austin, Texas (PRWEB) June 8, 2009 -- Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Doris Kearns Goodwin is confirmed as the keynote speaker of the 2009 State Bar of Texas Annual Meeting, to be held June 25 and 26, 2009, at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas. Goodwin is part of a line-up of speakers that includes such legal luminaries as U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, New York Times columnist David Brooks, Southern Poverty Law Center founder Morris Dees, ExxonMobil general counsel Charles W. Matthews, Former FBI director William S. Sessions, and ESPN legal analyst Roger Cossack.

The annual meeting is accredited for CLE in Texas, but attorneys and legal professionals from across the country are expected and encouraged to attend.

A panel of law school deans, including Larry Sager (University of Texas School of Law), John Attanasio (Southern Methodist University School of Law), Brad Toben (Baylor University School of Law), and Ken Starr (Pepperdine Law School), will discuss the future of the legal profession in a session moderated by ESPN legal analyst Roger Cossack.

Other subjects to be covered include the current state of law firm diversity, in a Diversity Forum, with panels of leading lawyers and judges; Work/life balance, with Joan Williams, director of Center for WorkLife Law; and a Legislative Update covering developments from the 81st biennial session of the Texas Legislature.

Practice area-specific sessions are geared for professionals from business lawyers and corporate counsel to immigration lawyers to solo attorneys.
