Williams Kherkher Investigates Hydroxycut Recall

Experienced Attorneys Launch Resource Center for Hydroxycut Victims

Houston, TX (PRWEB) May 2, 2009 -- Hydroxycut, a very popular series of supplementary weight loss pills and powders, has been pulled from the market by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The popular brand of diet aids, which has been marketed as an all-natural way to lose weight and tone muscles, has been linked to severe liver damage and related health problems. So far 23 cases of liver damage linked to Hydroxycut have been reported to the Administration, but this number may be misleadingly small.

Hydroxycut recall attorneys Williams Kherkher are investigating the recent recall and have set up an informational online resource center to help victims of Hydroxycut-related health problems.

About Hydroxycut:
Because it was classified as a dietary supplement, as opposed to a medication, Hydroxycut was not strictly regulated by the FDA before being placed on the market. Instead, government officials have had to rely on voluntary reports of health problems associated with Hydroxycut. Officials have acknowledged that many adverse reactions to consumer products are never reported, making it difficult to know exactly how many people have truly been injured by Hydroxycut.

Researchers are still trying to identify which of Hydroxycut's ingredients is responsible for the liver damage it has caused. One possible candidate is hydroxycitric acid, which is derived from tropical fruit and can be linked to liver damage. The recall currently affects 14 Hydroxycut products, including:

  • Hydroxycut Regular Rapid Release Caplets
  • Hydroxycut Caffeine-Free Rapid Release Caplets
  • Hydroxycut Hardcore Liquid Capsules
  • Hydroxycut Max Liquid Capsules
  • Hydroxycut Regular Drink Packets
  • Hydroxycut Caffeine-Free Drink Packets
  • Hydroxycut Hardcore Drink Packets (Ignition Stix)
  • Hydroxycut Max Drink Packets
  • Hydroxycut Liquid Shots
  • Hydroxycut Hardcore RTDs (Ready-to-Drink)
  • Hydroxycut Max Aqua Shed
  • Hydroxycut 24
  • Hydroxycut Carb Control
  • Hydroxycut Natural

Hydroxycut Symptoms

The symptoms suffered by Hydroxycut users have ranged from treatable jaundice to severe organ damage. People who have used Hydroxycut are advised to watch for signs of adverse health effects, including:

  • Nausea
  • Abdominal pain
  • Brown urine
  • Seizures
  • Cardiovascular problems

Tragically, this recall has been issued too late to save at least one person's life. A 19 year old male from the Southwest US was killed by liver failure in 2007 after using Hydroxycut. Another victim of this dangerous supplement has received a liver transplant, while one more is on a liver waitlist. The supplement's distributer, Iovate Health Services, has recalled a total of 14 products carrying the Hydroxycut brand name.
