62% of recent ConditionNutrition.com survey respondents on over the counter health products believe that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) should not regulate these products This health products' survey illustrates peoples’ views on the reliability of government regulation.
ConditionNutrition.com Tampa, FL (Vocus/PRWEB ) May 2, 2009 -- According to a recent survey, which asked respondents whether they believed that over the counter health products should be regulated by the FDA, approximately 62% of the 2445 respondents said no. Out of the rest of the votes, 24%, or 857 individuals, agreed that over the counter health products should be regulated and 12%, or 293, were not sure. These results lead one to conclude that there is lack of support for federal regulation.
The reasons for these responses varied tremendously. One respondent stated no because, “it will take too long for products to come out.” Another said no because he believes there is, “too much government as there is.” Most of the comments posted with a no response felt that the government is ineffective at monitoring the products they are already responsible for overseeing. Conversely, another respondent agreed that the government should regulate supplements because they have, “teenagers in sports and want to make sure they are safe” or believe that, “certain products should be regulated.”
BSN and Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals. While 62% of respondents disapprove of government regulation of sports nutrition, it is still important to make sure that you are buying legitimate products from a familiar brand. In today’s society of genetically modified foods and factory farming, now more than ever people need health products to get their daily value of vitamins and minerals and essential amino acids.
This survey is a follow up to a ConditionNutrition.com press release from April, 2, 2009, which discussed several companies that have come under fire for false claims and labeling, such asThe survey only pooled 2445 responses and offers intriguing glimpse into how people not only view over the counter health products, but the government as well. Avid users of health products believe that results speak for themselves and when they look and feel better they know it works. Research and development is also a concern since we all want companies to have the ability to produce the very best. Regardless of the business interests, Condition Nutrition is committed to doing further independent, unbiased surveys on the hot topics of sports nutrition.
