Wolferstans, the Plymouth based law firm, has been awarded the Law Society's quality mark Lexcel, the best practice standard for the management of law firms.
(PRWeb UK/PRWEB ) May 27, 2009 -- Wolferstans, the Plymouth based law firm, has been awarded the Law Society's quality mark Lexcel, the best practice standard for the management of law firms. The scheme looks at all aspects of practice management and helps to ensure that firms deliver excellent client care and a consistently high quality of service above and beyond the Law Society's statutory conduct rules.
Paul Woods, Senior Partner, Wolferstans, comments, "I'm delighted we have achieved the Lexcel accreditation. It is a formal recognition of the way in which we work, clients come first and we always act in their best interests. It also reflects our thorough in-house systems and processes which enable us to be more effective and efficient in our service delivery. We invest in people and new technology, such as IT infrastructure and the latest software tools, to give an accurate, efficient service that is good value."
Practice Director Max Goodison comments "Achieving Lexcel accreditation is an important step forward for us. Wolferstans has a high profile and a wide and loyal customer base in and around Plymouth, and is a modern, efficient, and go-ahead firm. We recently underwent a new branding programme to reflect this externally, but achieving Lexcel accreditation underlines our commitment to making quality and efficiency of client service central to everything we do."
To achieve Lexcel standard firms must have proper structures and policies in place, including documentation for the legal framework under which they operate. There must be a risk management strategy, a quality system, and documented procedures for data protection. Accreditation also highlights people management and requires plans for recruiting and development of personnel.
President of The Law Society, Paul Marsh, said "I am delighted that Wolferstans have achieved Lexcel accreditation from the Law Society. Lexcel accreditation demonstrates their commitment to the continual development of practice management and excellent client care."

Notes to editors:
Wolferstans is a founder member of QualitySolicitors.com, a collaboration between 100 of the UK's top law firms in what is seen as the legal services fight back against recent government reforms which will permit, for the first time, non-legal companies offering legal services.
Clare Magill, Head of Commercial Law, Wolferstans comments on the reforms, "My very real concern is that the public are at grave risk here. The client/solicitor relationship is crucial, often it is only after getting to know a client that the solicitor understands precisely what they wish to achieve, and what help they need. The Legal Services Act will lead to less understanding between parties and inevitably result in the public using legal representatives hundreds of miles away, at best with no understanding of local issues and often with expertise in areas irrelevant to their needs."
QualitySolicitors.com is the UK's first national legal brand, promoting the use of real solicitor firms over 'call-centre law' - (legal services provided by supermarkets, banks or building societies, out of mass call centres, or firms advertising on daytime TV).
