Marks & Harrison Sponsors The Shining Knight Gala

Benefit event for VCU Medical Center Trauma Program honors those who save lives in Central Virginia.

Richmond, VA (PRWEB) May 15, 2009 -- The Virginia personal injury law firm of Marks & Harrison was one of the co-sponsors of The Shining Knight Gala recently held in Richmond, Va., to honor Central Virginia medical professionals.

Proceeds from the event, held at the Commonwealth Club in Richmond, will benefit the VCU Medical Center Trauma Program.

Besides supporting the Trauma Program, Marks & Harrison has donated funds to the Neuroscience Intensive Care unit at MCV for renovations to the waiting area, a conference room and patient treatment areas. Marks & Harrison has also co-sponsored a safety program with MCV nurses that is aimed at preventing teenage drinking and driving.

One of five Level I trauma centers in the state, the VCU Medical Center Trauma Program was the first facility in Virginia to receive trauma designation in 1981. The program is one of only two trauma programs in the state verified by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma.

The Trauma Program offers an area of study at the Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center, which is one of the country's leading academic medical centers offering state-of-the-art care in more than 200 specialty areas.
