2009 HensonFuerst Health Initiative addresses safety, health, and wellness every month
Raleigh and Rocky Mount, N.C. (PRWEB) April 16, 2009 -- The Board of Directors of local law firm HensonFuerst is pleased to announce the launch of the 2009 HensonFuerst Health Initiative, a comprehensive plan that encompasses all of the law firm's community and service efforts. The initiative was developed as a way to encourage both community and firm members to prevent injuries, improve health and fitness, and aid organizations committed to improving health and well-being.
"The mission of the HensonFuerst Health Initiative is to foster safety and wellness in our community," said Thomas W. Henson Jr., attorney and partner at HensonFuerst. "We are dedicated to helping our friends and neighbors, and are always looking for ways to give back."
The initiative focuses on three main areas--safety, wellness, and community. HensonFuerst signature events include participating in the American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure, raising funds for cancer research, and sponsoring a video public service announcement contest about cycling safety for area teens. The initiative also will include a smoking cessation program and a weight-loss and fitness program for the firm's employees.
A Tradition of Giving
The members of HensonFuerst have been involved with the central and eastern North Carolina community for many years and continue to donate their time, effort, and support on a regular basis. The firm has created programs such as Hope Blooms, a community garden that promotes and provides awareness regarding cancer research and survivorship as well as to aid in the fight to eradicate cancer. During the past four years, the program has raised more than $24,000 for the American Cancer Society. The members of the firm also participate in initiatives to benefit the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association, the Healthy Kids Collaborative of the Down East Partnership for Children, and Coats for Kids, to name a few.
Upcoming Events
On April 24, the members of HensonFuerst will take part in the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life of Nash County, where they will join others in the fight against cancer. Next is the White Lake Sprint Triathlon on May 3 in White Lake, N.C., where HensonFuerst partners David and Carmaletta Henson will participate in a team triathlon involving a 750-meter swim, a 14-mile bike ride, and a 3.1-mile run to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. From June 6 to 7, the HensonFuerst Cycling Team, which includes more than 24 riders, will ride in the Tour de Cure in Cary, N.C., to help raise funds and awareness for the American Diabetes Association. Thomas W. Henson Jr., attorney and partner at the law firm, also serves as co-chair of this year's event.
