New York (PRWEB) March 16, 2009 -- The GRC Group today announced that nominations for its GRC MVP Awards would be accepted through April 15, 2009. The 2009 GRC MVP Awards recognize individual achievement and professional contributions in governance, risk management, and compliance during the 2008 calendar year. "Against the backdrop of poor corporate decisions that fueled the current economic recession, the GRC MVP Awards serve to draw well-deserved attention to the professionals who work tirelessly to ensure that their organizations exhibit strong GRC leadership," said Sanjay Anand, Chairperson of the GRC Group. "In the process, their professional contributions raise the bar within the GRC field and their industry, as well as contributing to the betterment of society," he said.
The GRC MVP Awards recognize achievement in the following disciplines:
- Finance and/or Accounting
- Information Technology
- General Management
- Legal and Ethics
- Internal Audit
Nominees are solicited from a broad spectrum of professionals, and nominations are submitted via the GRC Group website. Anand paints a few different scenarios that might prompt a GRC MVP award nomination. "For example, now that SOX compliance processes are in place, perhaps a GRC professional has leveraged those processes so that they support business objectives. Maybe a professional has initiated automated IT controls that have led to substantial savings in SOX compliance. Or, a nominee may have launched a green ethics initiative that has brought cost savings to their organization while enhancing its reputation among its customers," he said. After nominations close, the GRC Group's panel of judges will narrow down the field to five finalists per discipline. Then, the GRC Group membership will vote on the award recipient in each field. Recipients receive a beautifully designed award, as well as feature articles on the GRC Group website.
The GRC Group is also offering the opportunity for companies to sponsor the 2009 GRC MVP Awards. Information about sponsorships is available at http://www.grcg.com/grcmvp-sponsorships/ .
The GRC Group is perceived as the gold standard in recognizing knowledge of best practices in governance, risk management, and compliance. "We are proud to accord professionals the recognition they deserve," concluded Anand.
