SSI to train Miami Dade County Under the Metropolitan Medical Response System

Miami-Homeland Security leader to train Miami Dade Personnel in March in Operational Response to Mass Casualty.

Miami, FL (PRWEB) February 13, 2009 -- The Metropolitan Medical Response System (http://www.fema.gov/mmrs/) was created in response to terror attacks - the Tokyo Mass Sarin Gas attack - and the domestic terrorist bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Building in Oklahoma City. Now, the program is assisting 124 highly populated areas to conduct training and exercise to be able to respond effectively to any attacks that may occur in the future. Security Solutions International (SSI), the Miami-based Homeland Security leader has been chosen to provide the training in Miami Dade county and will soon be taking the course around the country to other highly populated areas.

"We are proud to be training Miami-Dade county, a very proactive area when it comes to Homeland Security," states Henry Morgenstern, SSI President. "Our Operational Response to Mass Casualty Program (http://www.homelandsecurityssi.com/ssi/content/view/193/160/), known as ORMAC is unique, providing hands-on experience in dealing with mass casualty situations and has already been approved for delivery across the country by the DHS. Cities are already ordering the program and it will prove invaluable in either man-made or natural disasters. Our hope is that we can make a modest contribution to saving lives."

The Metropolitan Medical Response System (MMRS) program assists 124 highly populated jurisdictions to develop plans and conduct training and exercises to achieve the enhanced capability necessary to respond to a mass casualty event caused by a WMD terrorist act. This assistance supports the jurisdictions' activities to increase their response capabilities during the first hours crucial to lifesaving and population protection, with their own resources, until significant external assistance can arrive.

Security Solutions International relies on experts, from the USA, Israel, Britain and members of the US Armed Forces and tactical medical teams that have served in Iraq, Afghanistan and other hot spots. The company is known for presenting instruction for their programs through highly qualified presenters that have really been there and done that.

"The ORMAC program is being presented by the head of surgery, Dr. Mauricio Lynn, at the Miami Ryder Trauma Center of Jackson Memorial Hospital who has been present at the Nairobi Embassy bombing, the Turkish earthquake and many other mass casualty incidents. Lynn brings the message home of the nature of a mass casualty incident (which he stresses is a logistical issue) and translates this to enhance First Responder capabilities, planning and response to incident. His experience dates back to his service in the front-line Israeli Medical Tactical Unit where he was one of the first doctors to respond to a suicide vehicle bomb attack. It's not only a practical approach but a fascinating program," says Morgenstern.

SSI is in touch with cities nationwide in an effort to bring them their training, consulting and planning capabilities. The company also publishes the Official Journal of the Homeland Security First Responder, The Counter Terrorist (http://www.thecounterterroristmag.com/default.asp), one of the fastest growing national magazines in the US today.
