Antelope Valley Estate Planning Law Firm Warns of Drivers Dropping Auto Insurance

Antelope Valley estate planning law firm Thompson Von Tungeln warns of more and more drivers dropping auto insurance, as premiums and joblessness rise. Accidents with uninsured motorists could drastically affect an estate if certain steps are not taken.

Lancaster, California (PRWEB) February 5, 2009 -- Antelope Valley Estate Planning law firm Thompson Von Tungeln warns of increasing numbers of drivers dropping their automobile insurance, due to growing joblessness and insurance premiums.

According to a recent article in the Wall Street Journal," said Antelope Valley estate planning lawyer, Kevin Von Tungeln, "as many as 40 percent of people who were following up on their online insurance applications had let their automobile insurance policies lapse. This compares to only 10 percent just a few years ago. Add to that a national average of nearly 15 percent of motorists who were uninsured or 25 percent in some states like California and Arizona, and you have a very high likelihood of financial disaster if one of these people hit you."

said Antelope Valley estate planning lawyer, Kevin Von Tungeln,
To protect your assets, Von Tungeln suggests carrying sufficient automobile insurance coverage to properly compensate you if you're hit by an uninsured motorist; and make sure you have enough liability insurance commensurate with your assets. "$250,000 per person and $500,000 per occurrence is the minimum uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage that I suggest for my clients," said Von Tungeln. "Uninsured/underinsured coverage is what protects you from a person who does not carry insurance."

"What has taken a lifetime to accumulate can all be destroyed within seconds by an automobile accident, particularly one involving an uninsured motorist," said Von Tungeln. "That's why it's vital your estate is fully protected, so that you can enjoy your life and can secure your loved ones' future."
