(Vocus/PRWEB ) January 27, 2009 -- InMotion, Inc. will celebrate the New York City legal community’s commitment to volunteerism at the 10th annual Commitment to Justice Awards on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at the Walter Reade Theater, Lincoln Center, 6:30–8:30 pm. Brad Eric Scheler, a partner at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP and chair of inMotion’s board of directors, will serve as the evening’s host.
InMotion provides free legal and social services to low-income women. Most of the women we serve suffer from domestic violence and many are recent immigrants. InMotion recruits, trains and mentors volunteer lawyers from New York City's premier corporate law firms and private practices in matrimonial, family and immigration law.
Over 4,000 volunteer attorneys have been trained and taken cases referred by inMotion, producing successful legal outcomes for thousands of women and their children. Last year our legal volunteers donated over 67,000 hours representing inMotion’s clients, providing professional services valued at $20 million.
More than 1,600 individuals shared their expertise and time in 2008 to transform the lives of abused mothers and their children. In addition to attorneys and paralegals, our volunteers include law students, social work students completing their graduate field placements, graduate, undergraduate and technical students, and seasoned professionals from all walks of life.
