98.7 FM/KYSR Hosts Live Concert Event for "Rock Star 98.7" 2008 Local Music Competition Winners in Downtown Los Angeles
Los Angeles, CA December 15, 2008 -- Paperback Hero played to an estimated crowd of more than 2500 people on Saturday night on the Nokia Plaza at the new LA Live Entertainment complex in downtown Los Angeles.
The band recently won "Rock Star 98.7", a 6 week annual talent competition hosted by 98.7 FM, KYSR (Clear Channel/Los Angeles). The performance was part of "Rock Star 98.7" in celebration of the Grand Opening to the public of the new GRAMMY Museum during a week long promotion to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Grammy awards. The station hosted the event, and night-time personality Kade was the MC for the evening.
The band played a 40 minute set, with a 3 song encore, to the enthusiastic crowd. Fans entering the Staples Center for a hockey game across the street from Nokia Plaza even joined in, and could be heard cheering during the set. The band had more than 3000 pieces of promotional material on hand for the evening, including 300 promotional CDs of their new single, "Lullaby". All materials were distributed through the 98.7 FM promotional tent, which was mobbed by hundreds of people for a post-show meet & greet. The band stayed for over an hour to sign and take pictures with the fans.
98.7 FM hosted a post-show party for the band at their new Luxurious "Rockin' Penthouse Pad", which included an impromptu Acoustic Jam session with Kade, Paperback Hero Lead Vocalist Bryan Hopkins, and Ben Carey from Lifehouse. http://www.987fm.com/pages/987rockinpenthousepad/index.html
