New 2008.4 release of M+Guardian adds extra security layers to prevent spam, viruses and falsely-blocked email from disrupting business continuity.
Montreal, Canada (Vocus/PRWEB ) December 15, 2008 -- Messaging Architects, the experts in email risk management and compliance, today announced the 2008.4 release of its M+Guardian extreme email firewall solution, featuring the newest advancements in proactive virus monitoring and a third anti-spam engine with support for unsolicited email categorization. The addition of these new features protects organizations from the latest security threats, while also enabling exceptions to blocking rules to be handled intelligently so legitimate email can enter the system unhindered.
“Viruses, spam and confidential data leaks continue to grow at alarming rates, driving the need for the strictest and most advanced email filtering and blocking technologies,” said Pierre Chamberland, CEO and founder of Messaging Architects. “But too much security can also prevent people from doing their jobs and threaten business continuity if not handled intelligently. The latest release of M+Guardian strikes the right balance between security and usability to ensure no productivity is lost.”
An innovation in M+Guardian 2008.4 is Commtouch’s new Zero-Hour AV technology. This is a signature-less process for proactively scanning the Internet and identifying virus outbreaks the instant they appear and before security vendors make their signature updates. This closes the early-hours vulnerability gap that can potentially infect many users. Further, a powerful new anti-spam engine has been added to M+Guardian’s two existing engines. The three engines are intelligently layered to effectively seal up possible holes through which disruptive spam messages and internet-borne malware can sneak in, leaving only legitimate business email to securely go through an organization’s firewall.
While the goal is to catch all spam messages, which represent 96.5% of total messages that attempt to enter an organization’s email system, M+Guardian also includes provisions to ensure that legitimate emails are not falsely blocked.
Organizations can fine-tune their blocking rules to address the unique requirements of their business and industry segment. This allows pharmaceutical companies, for example, to set up different rules than financial institutions for defining what is legitimate email versus what is not. Up to 20 different unsolicited email categories can be set up to handle exceptions. To further minimize business disruptions end users are notified when and why their incoming or outgoing email has been blocked so that they can take immediate corrective action as needed.
