NY personal injury law firm offered free cab rides home for local tavern and restaurant patrons who were helping to raise money for underprivileged families.
Plattsburgh, NY (PRWEB) December 19, 2008 -- On December 12, personal injury law firm Martin, Harding & Mazzotti, LLP, offered free cab rides home for local tavern and restaurant patrons participating in the inaugural 2008 Plattsburgh Santa Night. This event raises money for the Clinton County Christmas Bureau and was worked in conjunction with Plattsburgh City Taxi.
Santa Night participants wearing Santa hats and elf costumes, traveled by bus to local taverns and restaurants where they serenaded patrons with carols and collected donations. Participants who might have gotten too charitable with spirits received free cab rides home by simply calling 1-800-LAW-1010. There was no charge, no obligation and no questions asked.
The free cab ride program, sponsored by Martin, Harding & Mazzotti, LLP, has provided over 800 free cab rides since Christmas of 2007. The program took place during Santa Night on Friday, December 12. Patrons called 1-800-LAW-1010 to be connected to a Martin, Harding & Mazzotti representative. The representative asked for their location and then sent a cab.
"Our goal in sponsoring the free cab ride program during Santa Night was to help make the community a safer place," said Paul B. Harding, Managing Partner of Martin, Harding & Mazzotti, LLP. "As personal injury lawyers we see the effects when people drink and drive and we're proud to do our part to reduce alcohol-impaired driving, alcohol-related accidents and ultimately save lives."
During Plattsburgh's Santa Night, the largest one day international fund raising event for the less fortunate, a group of amateur singers sing two or three Christmas songs and collect donations from local restaurant patrons. More than 20 local establishments participated with contributions going directly towards making the season brighter for local families and children.
Santa Night was started in 1998 as a local fundraiser in Burlington, Vermont (a town of 39,000 people). To date it has raised over $100,000. After creating this extremely successful event, the founders of Santa Night formed FunRaising101 to pursue a much larger mission; to become the largest one day international fund raising event for the less fortunate. As a coordinated worldwide fund raising event, Santa Night takes place each year on the second Friday in December.
In 2000, Santa Night was started in Plattsburgh by Chris Huchro to help less fortunate families in the North Country. The program focuses on families with little children to make sure that Christmas comes to their home on Christmas morning too.
