Conner & Winters Adds Top-Level Attorneys to the Firm

The attorneys of Sessions Lambert Selwyn, plus an additional respected litigator and a prominent employee benefits attorney will join Conner & Winters, expanding the Firm's practice and presence in Dallas, Houston, and Oklahoma City

Tulsa/Oklahoma City/Dallas/Houston (PRWEB) December 15, 2008 -- Conner & Winters, one of the region's most respected law firms, with offices in Tulsa and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Fayetteville, Arkansas, Dallas and Houston, Texas, Washington, D.C., and Santa Fe, New Mexico, has added several top-level attorneys to its firm, announced Conner & Winters' President, Steve McGrath.

Conner & Winters announced that it is adding the lawyers from Dallas-based Sessions Lambert Selwyn, a firm recognized for its strong litigation capabilities and employee benefits expertise. In addition, Scott A. Law, a prominent civil litigator throughout Oklahoma, is joining the Oklahoma City office, and a leading employee benefits attorney, Robert J. Stokes, is joining the firm's Dallas office. The addition of the seven lawyers from Sessions Lambert Selwyn, along with attorneys Law and Stokes, will bring the number of Conner & Winters lawyers to over 100. Conner & Winters will now have nine lawyers in its Dallas office and three in its Houston office. The Sessions Lambert Selwyn support staff will also join Conner & Winters.

Sessions Lambert Selwyn is an excellent fit with our firm
"Sessions Lambert Selwyn is an excellent fit with our firm," commented McGrath. "Our decision to add them, as well as Scott and Robert, to our firm was entirely motivated by our desire to better serve the regional and national clients by adding the legal expertise, experience, and services of an exceptional group of attorneys who share our philosophy and commitment to service. These recent moves increase the breadth and depth of our firm's professional and industry experience and enhance our overall ability to serve existing clients and to pursue new business opportunities."
The three founding partners of Sessions Lambert Selwyn, William Lewis Sessions, Rick L. Lambert, and Douglas M. Selwyn, agreed that the decision to join Conner & Winters was not about building a bigger firm but about ensuring that they had access to the legal expertise and legal services to continue serving the ever-growing and complex legal needs of their existing clients as well as to position themselves to grow the combined firms' business in Texas.

"This was a strategic decision on our part to join a firm we know quite well with an excellent reputation built over 75 years," said founding partner Lewis Sessions. "We have considered joining other firms in the past, but the right opportunity never developed until we began discussions with our colleagues at Conner & Winters earlier this year. We had a strong desire to expand our legal capabilities and extend our geographical presence. Conner & Winters was the ideal match, offering us an uncommon opportunity to achieve our goals."

Partners in both firms affirmed the combination in late November.
Law is an experienced trial attorney who concentrates his practice on multi-national corporations and insurance carriers in energy, products liability, environmental/toxic tort, commercial, transportation and professional liability litigation. Law joins Conner & Winters from another Oklahoma City law firm. "I'm pleased to be joining Conner & Winters. The firm has tremendous talent and experience and enjoys a strong reputation for service. Mr. Law, who's first successful jury trial was twenty years ago, commented, "My decision to join Conner & Winters at this stage in my career was based upon the firm's expanding litigation practice in Oklahoma and the effort to enhance their presence as a regional litigation firm with the addition of Sessions Lambert Selwyn. I am looking forward to helping the firm service its existing clients and pursue new opportunities."

Robert Stokes has focused his practice in the area of employee benefits. He counsels employers, administrators, and other fiduciaries with respect to compliance with federal laws and regulations, and provides assistance in matters involving the Internal Revenue Service, Department of Labor, and Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation, including plan qualification, plan terminations, and prohibited transaction issues and exemptions. Prior to joining Conner & Winters, Stokes was a member of an international law firm based in Texas.

"We welcome Scott and Robert to the firm. Conner & Winters continues to expand even during these challenging economic times. The expertise, experience, knowledge, and standing in the legal community of these fine attorneys further strengthens our firm's capabilities and positions us well for continued growth in coming months and years," McGrath concluded.
