2008 AICPA Symposium Acknowledges Tax Whistleblower Reward Program

At the 2008 AICPA Symposium, the principals of www.RewardTax.com provided an educational and informative presentation to attendees regarding the positive effect that the Tax Whistleblower Reward Program is having on the CPA industry.

Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) December 13, 2008 -- The AICPA invited the principals of www.RewardTax.com, Rob Stientjes and Tom Pliske, to provide a presentation regarding the Tax Whistleblower Reward Program to the attendees of the 2008 AICPA Symposium in Washington, D.C. The AICPA Symposium is attended by over 400 leaders of the largest and best CPA firms in the country. The Whistleblower Program allows for a reward from the IRS to be earned for providing information regarding the underreporting of tax by individuals and businesses, as well as for providing information regarding unscrupulous tax return preparers who willingly assist in the evasion of tax and fraud. Stientjes and Pliske are former IRS attorneys who founded www.RewardTax.com and have represented hundreds of informants before the IRS.

The Symposium, presented annually by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), features esteemed experts and industry leaders in the fields of tax law and accounting. During the presentation on the Whistleblower Program, Stientjes and Pliske discussed the legal requirements for having a claim accepted by the IRS for processing into the Tax Whistleblower Reward Program, the procedural rules for submitting a case to the Whistleblower Office, and examples of fact patterns that make good cases to refer. Pliske opined that, "Overall, the Whistleblower Program will have a positive effect on the CPA industry because it gives incentives to those with knowledge of inappropriate behavior to come forward. Unscrupulous tax return preparers, left unchecked, take business away from honest return preparers."

Stientjes and Pliske were introduced at the Symposium by Walt Knepper of the accounting firm of Rubin Brown. Knepper introduced Stientjes and Pliske as two of the most knowledgeable tax attorneys with whom he has had the privilege of working. "Rob Stientjes and Tom Pliske possess an incredible wealth of knowledge of IRS administrative procedure," said Knepper. The AICPA is the national, professional organization for all Certified Public Accountants. Its mission is to provide members with the resources, information, and leadership that enable them to provide valuable services in the highest professional manner to benefit the public as well as employers and clients.
