Williams Kherkher Offers Condolences, Information, and Advice to People Affected by the Tragedy
Houston, TX (PRWEB) November 22, 2008 -- Houston personal injury law firm Williams Kherkher has set up an online resource center for victims of the recent oil refinery explosion and fire in Tyler, TX.
In the early afternoon on Thursday, November 20, 2008, an explosion and subsequent fire broke out at the Delek oil refinery in Tyler. Four workers were injured; one later died of his injuries at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. More updates are available at Williams Kherkher's website.
The fire was localized in the plant's sat-gas area, where useful substances are extracted from gases produced by the refining process. Although firefighters had some difficulty containing the flames, officials said that there was no apparent threat to nearby neighborhoods.
The Tyler refinery is owned by Delek US Holdings; it employs approximately 270 people and has a capacity of 58,000 barrels per day (bpd).
In February, the refinery was penalized by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for various safety violations in connection with the handling of hazardous chemicals. An investigation into the cause of Thursday's explosion is ongoing.
