Conducted by TechWeb, Survey Reveals 50% of End Users Have Altered Security Settings Leaving Them Open to Significant Risk
Scottsdale, AZ (PRWEB) November 18, 2008 -- Securing business-technology systems isn't getting any easier, according to the results of the Lumension and TechWeb Research "State of Data Protection" survey. The recent study details how users often dismiss internal security policies and even download unauthorized data and applications to their work machines for personal use.
- 72 percent of respondents view worms, viruses and spyware as the top threats to their IT security;
- 52 percent view the accidental dissemination of confidential and regulated data and outside hackers as the biggest concern;
- 55 percent cited the number of vulnerabilities and fast-changing threats among the greatest operational hurdles to optimizing their IT security efforts; and
- 22 percent of respondents who are considering outsourcing said that they currently are considering outsourcing the management of IDS/IPS.
