Lead Detective in the Anand Jon Criminal Case Ordered by Judge to Take Stand on Monday, August 18, 2008.

In pre-trial activity the lead detective in the Anand Jon criminal case is ordered to take the stand on Monday, August 18, 2008 to be questioned on withholding evidence for 11 months. According to court documents, the evidence was attorney-client information obtained by hacking into the defense's computers thus compromising defense strategy.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) August 15, 2008 -- On Monday, August 11, 2008 in downtown Los Angeles criminal Courts Building, according to court proceedings (BA327190) and documents only recently obtained by the defense, the lead detective in the Anand Jon case had been in possession of illegally retrieved attorney-client privileged information. According to court documents, the information was retrieved from hacking into the defendants email and computers and subsequently turned over to the lead detective in September 2007.

More information will be uncovered on Monday August 18, 2008 as Det. Elwell has been ordered to take the stand. SupportAnandJon.org relates, "There is much interest in this as the public, officials and the media will attend and cover this major breakthrough for the defense."

This turn of events follows the prosecutor's office stating to the New York Times in April 2007 that the allegations against Anand Jon were "violent crimes against women" only to retract that statement on November 7, 2007 in court stating, "No violence. No injuries. No weapons."

In addition, a one and a half year investigative report by veteran journalist Sharon Waxman into the allegations against Anand Jon (LA Magazine, August 2008) states, "still other testimony seems to raise questions about how strongly some of the young women resisted and whether they are lying." She adds, "the cross examination will be searing."

According to court papers it turns out that Detective Elwell also knows about the fact that several of the complaining witnesses have criminal records including drug use, probation, restraining orders and have even made false allegation of alleged assaults in the past. This information was not related during grand jury proceedings.
