San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) August 11, 2008 -- The Cartwright Law Firm recently settled the personal injury lawsuit of a Califormia man for $1,350,000 who suffered a puncture-wound to his foot after stepping on a submerged snap-tie (metal spike) that was left behind from a construction project near a sulfer pit where he was contracted to perform work. The client was doing maintenence on a sump pump in a submerged part of a sulfer pit when the accident occured. The client was not wearing safety boots at the time of his injury.
"Our client, a diabetic, faced a possible amputation below the knee as a result of the wound and resulting infection. As such, he was under incredible emotional distress about an event that was not certain to occur. This made valuing the case at the settlement phase facing extremely challenging," said Matthew Quinlan (pictured - left), a partner at The Cartwright Law Firm. "There really were a lot of factors working against us in the case, including the client's failure to wear safety boots in an area where submerged objects posed a threat of danger," said Robert Cartwright (pictured - right), who negotiated the $1,350,000 settlement over 6-8 months. The case was filed in San Joaquin Superior Court (case # CV029610).
