SSI Announces its Most Important Homeland Security Mission to Israel for November 2008

Leading global best practices, Security Solutions International, the Miami-based company, today considered the leading US Homeland Security training company, is marking yet another milestone in its mission to take as many US Homeland Security professionals from private companies and the public sector to see the systems Israel has developed to defend against terrorist threats. "We are looking to show US Homeland Security where, for example, in Aviation Security, Israel has very interesting experience," says SSI CEO Sol Bradman.

Miami, FL (PRWEB) July 14, 2008 -- "That's a scenario where Israel has a lot of experience," said Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff in an interview with Reuters. "I think that it is of interest to us to see if there is any adaptation there." Israel's Ben-Gurion International Airport, known for its strict security measures, relies heavily on techniques that detect suspicious behavior among travelers. Chertoff said such methods, as well as Israeli technologies that detect explosives, are some of the things that may help protect US airports and other public places against attacks. Chertoff, at a conference in Jerusalem for public and homeland security ministers from around the world, signed an agreement with Israel to share technology and information on methods to improve homeland security.

With the Homeland Security Secretary promoting that the US can learn from Israeli methods, the SSI September trip is now completely full. "This gives participants a real chance to go and see, hands-on, what is accomplished in security of borders, malls, government buildings, ports, aviation and more," says Sol Bradman. SSI has taken more than 300 Homeland Security professionals to Israel since 2004, forming a vanguard of know-how that has resulted in adaptations in many US communities. "We have already taken people from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Georgia and some of these methods have been applied to our training here in the USA."

Border Security, which is a topic of great international importance, is studied by taking a trip to the very sensitive Border Crossing with the Palestinian Authority near Taibeh. Here, participants are able to see just how Israel has automated the process, providing safety for its own Border Patrol personnel and by eliminating points of contact, the crossing ensures that Palestinians are vetted in a strictly respectful manner allowing for movement across the border of both goods and people on a daily basis. "I came all the way from Arizona to take a look at this and I have been more than rewarded to see the Border Checkpoint and the smart fence to understand how we might improve Border Security along our borders," said a member of an Arizona Sheriff's Office.

The Israel Mission leaves from and returns to Newark, spending 8 days in Israel. Participants are able to study how the official response is undertaken through hands-on, SSI-arranged visits to ports, malls, schools, train stations and more. In addition, participants get lectures from well known subject matter experts on many topics of interest such as vehicle bombs, bomb security and suicide terrorists. Additionally, the participants are introduced to prominent members of Israeli law enforcement such as Israeli Special Forces operators and others. The trip is certainly the last that will cost $4200 - all inclusive of studies, excursions, meals, hotels, etc - because the price of airfare has been heavily impacted by rising fuel costs and the low dollar has put up costs in Israel.
