According to the network TV new program 60 Minutes, the use of Trasylol may be linked to over 20,000 U.S. deaths. According to the 60 Minutes report, "the drug maker withheld critical clinical information from the U.S. FDA. Had this information been available to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the drug could have been recalled." According to news accounts, "the drugs maker knew of issues with Trasylol as far back as 2002, yet they continued to allow the drug to be used in heart related surgical heart and hip replacement procedures".
