Fifteen Virginia Students Awarded College Scholarships By Triumphing in the Face of Adversity

The Allen Law Firm Recognizes Academic Achievement and Overcoming Hardship

Richmond, VA (PRWEB) May 23, 2008 -- On May 13, 2008, at the Glen Allen Cultural Arts Center in Richmond, VA, Allen and Allen awarded fifteen deserving high school seniors with the Allen Law Firm Scholarship. The Firm's Scholarship Program is designed to recognize students who have overcome unusual obstacles or special challenges, in addition to achieving high standards of community service and academic performance. This year Allen and Allen received over 265 applications and from those, fifteen remarkably young men and women from fourteen high schools were chosen as recipients. From Emily Krause, co-chair of the 2008 Scholarship Committee, "It is amazing to meet these young adults who have achieved so much when the odds were against them. It has been an honor to be part of such a worthwhile program."

This was the seventeenth year for the Firm's scholarship program. The Allen Law Firm Scholarship Program was established to honor the Firm's founder, George E. Allen, Sr., who overcame significant challenges in his youth before putting himself through college and law school.
