BoxTone(R), the award-winning expert in mobile user management, today reported that sales of its flagship BoxTone management and monitoring software for the BlackBerry(R) platform ended the year on a torrid pace, doubling year-over-year and highlighting the company's accelerating growth and momentum. Key metrics of active clients and BlackBerry smartphone users under management doubled as well.

Columbia, MD (PRWEB) January 16, 2008 -- BoxTone(R), the award-winning expert in mobile user management, today reported that sales of its flagship BoxTone management and monitoring software for the BlackBerry(R) platform ended the year on a torrid pace, doubling year-over-year and highlighting the company's accelerating growth and momentum. Key metrics of active clients and BlackBerry smartphone users under management doubled as well.

For its fiscal year ended December 31, 2007, total annual sales more than doubled from the prior year, while fourth quarter sales increased 123 percent sequentially from the third quarter, both records. BoxTone's client base experienced similar growth -- moving from 45 customers at the end of FY06 to pass 100 at year's end, just as the total BoxTone licensed user count topped 260,000.

"BoxTone is hitting on all cylinders, across every facet of the organization," said Alan Snyder, Chief Executive Officer, BoxTone. "Internal client surveys show top-end satisfaction rates approaching 95 percent as they know they can reliably depend on BoxTone. With the business growing to more than 100 customers, numerous Fortune 1000 companies count on our mobility expertise and our software's scalability and global management capabilities. But I am most proud of the fact that all our customers -- organizations of all sizes and industries -- are experiencing substantial value and consistent, measurable ROI."

Snyder noted that BoxTone's success must be shared with Research In Motion, which, according to a recent ChangeWave Research Report, continues to control the "lion's share" of the enterprise smartphone market while maintaining superior customer satisfaction levels. Said Snyder, "In 2005, BoxTone placed a bet on the BlackBerry platform that proved to be as smart as our management and monitoring software. We cannot be more pleased!"

In his November 2007 research report, "BoxTone Sees a Road to Gold Through BlackBerry Mobile User Management," Tony Rizzo, The 451 Group's Research Director for Mobility, spoke of the effect of that early decision. Said Rizzo, "Being at the right place at the right time with the right product mix -- that's an apt description of BoxTone and its platform. Having chosen to focus on RIM (BlackBerry platform), it has the platform capability to match the challenges large vendors need to tackle. With RIM's enterprise growth exploding, BoxTone is well placed."

Measured by industry recognition, sales and technology innovation, BoxTone finished 2007 on a roll, and as the clear market-leading provider of enterprise-class management, monitoring and support software for the BlackBerry platform. Some company highlights for the quarter and the year:

  • Passed the 100 customer mark: doubling year-over-year
  • Passed the 260,000 BoxTone licensed user mark: with top 10 customers averaging more than 12,000 BoxTone licensed users each
  • Embraced by market leaders: 40 percent of installed base are Fortune(R) 1000 companies, representing 21 Fortune industry categories, with six BoxTone clients No. 1 and three more No. 2 in their respective categories
  • Trusted by legal community: used by more than 10 percent of Am Law 100
  • Expanded international presence: partnered with SystAG to resell BoxTone across Germany and Central Europe, and with BT in the United Kingdom, with quick joint wins out of the gate
  • Award winner: named Windows IT Pro Editor's Best in the category of Mobile and Wireless

Since launching BoxTone on the BlackBerry platform in 2005, the company has maintained a consistent record of technology innovation. "BoxTone is truly at the forefront of innovation in mobile user computing," said Brian C. Reed, Chief Marketing Officer, BoxTone. "In 2005, seeing the need for a completely new way to tackle complex mobility issues, BoxTone created the world's first mobile user service level technology based on measuring real time user transaction flows -- proving the data is the difference.

"In 2006, this evolved into a 3-D mobile monitoring approach, correlating user transaction flow data with infrastructure and synthetic transaction metrics for smarter alerts, faster incident resolution, and simplified chronic problem isolation -- the very definition of proactive," said Reed. "In 2007, the technology scaled out to support large and complex BlackBerry deployments with an eye towards ITIL best practices for multiple IT and help desk roles -- solidifying BoxTone as the 'one place to go.'"

This past November, Kitty Weldon, Principal Analyst, Enterprise Mobility for research firm Current Analysis, suggested that "to support user and application growth, IT organizations should look first to software vendors like BoxTone who can do it all -- alert to incidents, troubleshoot, engineer out chronic issues, empower the service desk, reduce costs, help ensure compliance and reduce risk."

Continued Reed, "This year we will be announcing game-changing advancements again, all designed to help smart enterprises and government organizations meet their ever growing and changing needs."

BoxTone clients routinely report 80 percent reductions in both mean-time-to-repair (MTTR) and help desk escalations, as well as lower cost to serve, improved service levels, and better IT resource allocation. Click here to read about their stories.
