Newport Beach, CA (Vocus/PRWEB ) March 31, 2010 -- The California personal injury law firm of BISNAR | CHASE (BestAttorney.com) today announced it will be a corporate patron and water sponsor of Walk Like MADD 2010 (Walk Like MADD 2010) on Saturday, May 8, 2010 in Huntington Beach, California. The event is designed to help Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) support programs for both victims of drunk driving as well as programs to help prevent drunk driving and underage drinking in Orange County.

As part of its sponsorship, members of the BISNAR | CHASE staff are actively involved in raising money for the event. Additionally, the firm's team members will be on-hand to participate in the 5K walk, to supply water to participants and to educate people about their legal rights as drunk driving crash victims.

"We're proud to be a sponsor of such an important event and a supporter of MADD, an organization that works tirelessly to prevent drunk driving and underage drinking," said John Bisnar, founder of BISNAR | CHASE. "The statistics involving drunk driving crashes are staggering. That's why we felt it was so important to get involved with the Walk Like MADD 2010 event, to give something back to our community and to educate victims of drunk driving crashes, to help them seek justice against offenders and to recover monetary damages for injuries and wrongful death."

In 2008, an estimated 11,773 people died in alcohol-impaired traffic collisions. What's more, three in every 10 Americans will be involved in an alcohol-related traffic collision in their lives, and in the U.S. alone, crashes related to alcohol cost approximately $51 billion every year.1

MADD works to save lives through education, awareness, and the passage and enforcement of anti-drunk driving and underage drinking laws. Just as importantly, MADD provides crucial support for the survivors, family members and friends coping with the devastation caused by a drunk driving collision.

In addition to its participation at the event, BISNAR | CHASE has fun activities planned for its booth, including a dunk tank and face painting for children. What's more, the firm is sharing its event space with WeTip, a leading anonymous crime reporting service and law enforcement advocacy non-profit organization, which has recently partnered with BISNAR | CHASE to launch the Hit and Run Reward Program (HitandRunReward.com), an anonymous reporting system and cash rewards program for witnesses who care enough to report hit and run offenders.

Bisnar says many hit-and-run drivers flee the scene of a crash because they've been drinking and driving, and in California, the number of hit-and-run offenses has risen sharply. After years of decline, more drivers are fleeing the scenes of deadly crashes in California than in any other state in the nation. In 2007, nearly 250 people died in hit-and-run traffic collisions in California, with more than 25,000 people suffering injuries from various types of hit and run collisions.2

"I'm utterly appalled by the inhumanity of hit-and-run drivers who flee the scene of a serious crash, leaving injured victims to suffer or die," said Bisnar. "It's my hope more violators will get prosecuted when witnesses have a place and method to anonymously turn them in and that perpetrators will be deterred from fleeing the scene when they know someone can and will report them."

About MADD
MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) is a non-profit organization founded in 1980 by Candace Lightner in Sacramento, California after her daughter was killed by a drunk driver. The driver who struck and killed her daughter had two previous convictions for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and was out on bail for a drunk driving hit-and-run only two days prior. Today, MADD has over 600 local chapters across the United States and is the largest crime victims' assistance program in the world with more than three million members and supporters. Since MADD's inception drunk driving related deaths have declined by 43 percent. MADD's commitment is to eliminate drunk driving through public awareness, victim assistance, youth programs, and public policy. MADD's mission statement "to stop drunk driving, support victims of this violent crime and prevent underage drinking," is indicative of their new additional focus on reaching out to the nations' youth.

PCI Compliance and Data Security Requires Private Key Management – New Industry White Paper Explains

Venafi, Inc. releases white paper detailing importance of private key management to PCI compliance efforts

Salt Lake City, UT (Vocus/PRWEB ) March 31, 2010 -- Venafi, Inc. (www.venafi.com) today released a new white paper to educate organizations on the security risks they face when encryption keys are not properly monitored and managed.

Visit this link to download a free copy of the paper (http://www.venafi.com/Collateral_Library/Venafi_PCI%20Compliance_Whitepaper.pdf)

The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) calls for cryptographic key management, but it does not distinguish between keys used for symmetric and asymmetric cryptography. Both key types must be properly secured in order to meet the spirit of the regulation, and more importantly, to mitigate against security vulnerabilities and outages. In most organizations, the private keys—a critical component of widely deployed Public Key Infrastructure-based encryption schemes—are not being adequately protected by organizations.

“Once data is encrypted, the key, and not the data itself, becomes the asset that must be secured,” said Venafi CEO Trell Rohovit. “I’m stunned by how often we see large PKI implementations where certificate and private key management were an afterthought if they were ever even considered before an unexpected system failed.”

While the PCI security council and industry pundits agree that the current version of PCI DSS mandates protections for private keys in spirit, the language is vague. In addition, most auditors do not penalize organizations who have not addressed this problem, because they are unaware of commercial solutions such as the products Venafi offers that can help organizations quickly and efficiently get a handle on these difficult and high-risk assets.

The new Venafi white paper provides specific information about the role and importance of enterprise-wide key management and how to address it. For more information please visit www.venafi.com/Director.

About Venafi
Venafi invented systems management for encryption to help organizations simplify the management of encryption technologies across their diverse operating systems and infrastructure environments from the desktop to the datacenter. Venafi provides automated management of encryption assets, including discovery, monitoring, alerts, lifecycle management and automated application configuration. This helps organizations reduce downtime and improve operational efficiency and data security. Venafi solutions manage mission-critical encryption systems at some of the world’s most prestigious organizations in industries including financial services, insurance, high tech, telecommunications, government, airline, aerospace, healthcare, food services and retail. Former CNN/CNBC Anchor-Reporter Joins spark360 Team

Renay San Miguel Named Host/Managing Editor for Groundbreaking "Social Business News" Television Program

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) March 31, 2010 -- Apparently, thirteen years of reporting on how digital technologies have revolutionized the media business proved to be too tempting for Renay San Miguel. The 30-year veteran of local and national broadcast news is returning to Dallas to join spark360, which blends network news-style production with online video and social media as a way to help small and medium-sized businesses tell their stories to the world.

spark360 host Renay San Miguel interviews Jun Lee, CEO of Designs by Jun
spark360 host Renay San Miguel interviews Jun Lee, CEO of Designs by Jun
"This is my chance to practice what I've been preaching. I've put together plenty of stories about how web-based video and social networks are rewriting the rules for traditional media. Now I get to play in this digital sandbox", said San Miguel.
San Miguel, who was an anchor/tech reporter for CNN/CNN Headline News from 2001-2007, will serve as host/managing editor for spark360’s "social business news" programming. He will interview company executives on location and in the spark360 studios, help produce stories on those companies, and will also provide various forms of digital content for the spark360 Distribution model - blog posts, press releases and behind-the-scenes footage from the production team's shoots.

"This is my chance to practice what I've been preaching," said San Miguel, who covered technology for CNBC during the dot-com boom of 1997-2000. "I've put together plenty of stories about how web-based video and social networks are rewriting the rules for traditional media. I've also written columns about journalists having to adapt to this new media landscape. Now I get to play in this digital sandbox with a top-notch production team at spark360 and Splash Media - and I get to make trips back to Texas, where I was born and raised, to do it. It doesn't get much better than that."

“We are thrilled that Renay is joining the spark360 team. He brings a lot to the table with his professional broadcast experience as well as an extremely clear vision for our 'social business news' programming," said Chris Kraft, President of spark360 parent Splash Media, L.P.

San Miguel was hired as an anchor/tech reporter for CNN Headline News, but shortly after his arrival at the network in September 2001, he was put to work on the military beat as the U.S. responded to the attacks of Sept. 11th. He also helped staff the CNN military desk for the invasion of Iraq in 2003, interviewing military experts such as Gen. Wesley Clark. In addition to general news anchoring at Headline News, San Miguel also filled-in as a CNN anchor. His technology reporting for CNN/Headline News included trips to Las Vegas for the Consumer Electronics Show, where he also provided digital content such as podcasts and blog posts for CNN.com. He launched the weekly "Digital Life" podcast for CNN.com and won a Cybersecurity Journalism award from Carnegie Mellon University and the Newseum for his CNN.com/HLN technology column.

Before his time at CNN's Atlanta headquarters, San Miguel served as a technology reporter for CNBC, where he covered the Nasdaq marketsite and charted the growth of hardware and software companies and the then-nascent Internet industry. He's interviewed tech luminaries such as Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Michael Dell, Craig Barrett and Jeff Bezos.

San Miguel's started his journalism career at the same time computers began showing up in newsrooms around the country. He was hired as a rewrite clerk for his hometown newspaper, the Standard-Times in San Angelo, Texas, in 1979. He was promoted to full-time reporter in 1982, and he remembers being one of the first in the newsroom to use the great-grandfather of laptop computers - the Radio Shack TRS-80 - to cover Friday night high school football games.

San Miguel shifted to broadcast television in 1985. He worked as an anchor/reporter for TV stations in San Angelo, Austin and San Francisco before being hired as an education reporter for Dallas' WFAA-TV in 1991. He added politics to his list of beats, covering presidential campaigns in 1992 and 1996, and was also promoted to morning/noon anchor. San Miguel helped launch WFAA's "La Vida," a public affairs newsmagazine focusing on the Latino community in North Texas, serving as its first host/managing editor. He won a regional Emmy Award for his contributions to a WFAA special on media violence, a Texas School Bell Award from the Texas State Teachers Association for education reporting and a Casey Award from the University of Maryland for his reporting on a Channel 8 documentary, "From Welfare to Work."

San Miguel has formed his own media content company, Primo Media LLC. He is a reporter/columnist for the ECT News Network, parent company of the E-Commerce Times, TechNewsWorld.com and MacNewsWorld.com. He also contributes weekly technology reports and fill-in anchor work for the NBC affiliate in Seattle and Northwest Cable News, and has appeared on Fox Business Network.

Defense Lawyer Earns a Hung Jury Verdict on Multiple Charges

Defense Lawyer David Michael Cantor's office earned his client a hung verdict on all three charges in the case of State v. Shinn (Scottsdale Municipal Court Case No: TR2009-013981). A Scottsdale City Court jury returned the hung verdict on charges of DUI, DWI and extreme DWI.

Scottsdale, AZ (PRWEB) March 31, 2010 -- Defense Lawyer David Michael Cantor's office earned his client a hung verdict on all three charges in the case of State v. Shinn (Scottsdale Municipal Court Case No: TR2009-013981). A Scottsdale City Court jury returned the hung verdict on charges of DUI, DWI and extreme DWI.

Defense Lawyer David Michael Cantor
Defense Lawyer David Michael Cantor
"At first look, the State appeared to have a very strong case against our client," said defense lawyer David Michael Cantor. "After extensive examination and research, we were able to identify numerous flaws in the State's case and earn our client a hung verdict as well as a significantly reduced plea offer."

The state claimed that Shinn's blood alcohol content was a .187, however, defense lawyer David Michael Cantor's associate was able to provide evidence to the contrary. The defense lawyer was able to show that the field sobriety tests indicated that Shinn was not impaired, and he was able to show that the officer's eye test was not admissible.

Defense lawyer David Michael Cantor's associate was also able to provide evidence that the City of Scottsdale Police Department was using an old Gas Chromatograph machine that has been replaced by a more reliable machine. Also, the State did not present any maintenance or calibration records which would show that that the machine was working accurately and correctly.

The prosecution has now offered defense lawyer David Michael Cantor and his client a substantially reduced plea offer in order to prevent having to retry the case.

About the Law Offices of David Michael Cantor
