LashBack's U.S. Commercial E-mail Monitoring Technology Protects Consumers and Advertisers Enforcing Can-Spam Act for Major Senders
St. Louis, MO (Vocus/PRWEB ) April 3, 2009 -- LashBack, LLC and JAAK, Ltd. are partnering to launch LashBack Europe, Ltd., the first email compliance services provider for advertisers and marketers in the UK with plans to expand across the European Union. EU regulations on digital communications set forth basic guidelines which each member nation uses as a foundation for its own set of national laws. LashBack technology monitors commercial email sent to consumers to ensure it meets all applicable legal and best practice requirements for clients.
"Global email compliance is about protecting consumers and marketers by ensuring our customer's email marketing programs are compliant with all applicable laws and their own internal quality standards," stated Brandon Phillips, CEO, LashBack, LLC and LashBack Europe Ltd.
European email compliance has many similar regulations to those in U.S. law. The two major exceptions are that the EU is publisher-centric and is permission based with few exceptions. U.S. law is advertiser-centric and not permission based. The EU enforcement environment and culture are different so the positioning of compliance services in Europe will need more emphasis on commercial impact. LashBack is partnering with JAAK, Ltd because of their domain expertise in the UK online marketplace and experience investing in marketing services companies.
"Providing the best email experience for consumers and businesses is a global challenge which we must first respond to locally," stated Paul Moore, Chairman and CEO, JAAK, Ltd. "The investment in LashBack Europe is about raising the quality of legitimate commercial email and providing a unique set of tools for recognized UK and EU brands and marketers alike, to self regulate and enforce the law and best practices. I strongly believe that now is the right time to address, in particular, brand protection as well as compliance issues here in the UK. By proactively working with brands and marketers together we can ensure that email marketing remains a very strong route to market in the UK and EU. I am proud that one of my other companies is a customer of LashBack US, which is how I was introduced to the technology and that the launch of the first European version of LashBack's service will be in the UK."
The U.S. version of LashBack's Email Compliance Monitor serves close to 100 companies and checks for the nine major compliancy points of the CAN-SPAM Act: operable unsubscribe mechanism, failure to honor unsubscribe request, suppression list abuse, subject line relevancy, from line accuracy, physical address in body of email, open relay sending, email address harvesting and forged headers. Most national anti-spam laws share similar major components which is increasing international cooperation for prosecutions among enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Federal Trade Commission.
Before LashBack compliance technology it was nearly impossible for email marketers to know when key components of compliance like unsubscribe were not working for consumers or to know when sending partners were intentionally or unknowingly using non-compliant practices. The service is available in the United States and will soon launch in the UK and roll out across the European Union.
LashBack, LLC., co-founded by Brandon Phillips, CEO and Eric Castelli, CTO, is privately held and headquartered in downtown St. Louis, Missouri. LashBack offers Email Compliance Monitor and Resolution Service, BrandAlert and ListMonitor services to advertisers, publishers and affiliate networks who send commercial email. LashBack also protects consumers by monitoring unsubscribe performance of companies sending commercial email and reporting results to industry and major reputation management services. LashBack currently monitors over 46,500,000 Sending IPs and over 1,650,000 unsubscribe mechanisms.
LashBack Europe, Ltd. brings together LashBack, LLC and JAAK, Ltd. to offer email compliance services for the first time to email marketers in the UK and soon across all of the European Union. The London office opened on Liverpool Street in September and work has continued building regulatory and commercial relationships across Europe as LashBack 1.5, the global services platform is tested for launch. Brandon Phillips is the CEO of LashBack US and EU.
JAAK, Ltd. is owned by serial entrepreneur and investor Paul Moore. Mr. Moore invests in and owns several other independent companies in the online marketing and marketing services industry.
